What is the purpose of the port number?

Vaibhav Kothia May 26, 2023 0 Comments

The port number is a numerical identifier used to differentiate different applications or services that are running on the same computer. It is like a street address for a computer, allowing it to receive data from other computers. For example, web servers usually use port 80 to receive data from web browsers. Similarly, email servers use port 25 for incoming emails.
